1967 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Coupe

Description

1967 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Coupe with a 6.3 V-8 conversion done by Karl
Middelhauve

The Black 300SEL 6.3 “Hot Benz” is a very special car, one of Karl’s favorites. It is
040 Black outside color with refreshed cognac leather inside, and burlwood trim.
This is a proper 6.3 conversion with 6.3 under pinning’s, transmission and 6.3 rear
axle assembly. It has one of only a handful of cars that has Karl’s KHM injection
(He designed himself). It is the same unit that is profiled on Jay Leno’s 600 video.
The engine has sport camshafts, 10.5 to 1 compression and the updated fuel
injection system, electronic MSD ignition, and tuned headers. These Mods raise
the power output from the stock level of 250hp to over 400hp.

Since acquiring it from Karl, we have done several significant repairs to it
including:

Rebuilding the rear axle center section with new OEM ring and pinion, seals,
bearings, etc.

Replace rear axle CV boot.

Replace all four suspension valves with rebuilt units by Martin Werminghausen at
600 Air.

Pulled fuel tank and cleaned it internally and replaced fuel pump and filters.
R&R Karl’s KHM Fuel Injection Unit and repair vacuum leaks and fitment issues.
Polish complete Intake housing, inlet pipes, and redue KHM lettering on the top
plate.

Clay bar all black body panel surfaces and bring paint back to swirl free with the
3M three step process (took two men two weeks to complete to show standard)
Repolish the complete stainless exhaust system and add heat shielding to front
half.
